Description:
‘For God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.’ 1 Corinthians 1:25
In this clever and thought-provoking play Michael Forster uses the Shakespearean device of the wise ‘Fool’ to bring us face to face with searching questions about our lives. Apparently stereotypical, yet familiar and vulnerable, the characters allow us to join them on their journey of self-discovery as they accompany the Fool who possesses nothing but a helium-filled balloon. We begin to realise that he came to challenge established wisdom and offer radical alternatives. Like Jesus, who is God’s ‘Fool’, he invites us to live unburdened lives based on truth rather than spin, image or over-blown ambition.
Fool’s Journey is a play for adults and school-age children which both audience and participants will enjoy; indeed, the audience is invited to join in with some of the songs. The play is written in such a way that the message is never stifled by the staging, while simplicity and humour help to unfold the age-old story of redemption and love.
